Puglia… A photographers dream… Puglia (also known as Apulia) is a long narrow peninsular bordered by two seas, the Ionian and Adriatic. Puglia is a unique destination in southeastern Italy, a land of sun, culture, history, and nature.

We’ll enjoy some unforgettable photographic experiences, shooting seascapes at Polignano and Monopoli with steep cliffs overlooking colourful blue seas. Enjoy landscapes of valleys and gentle hills covered with olive trees and vineyards around Ostuni ‘La Citta Bianca’ the white town. We wander though the whitewashed medieval streets and alleyways.

We explore Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its narrow streets full of whitewashed Trulli houses with their iconic conical roofs.

We venture into the neighboring region of Basilicata to the city of Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This amazing town is on a ridge with deep canyons on either side, the Sassi di Matera consists of remarkable cave dwellings, around 9,000 years ago humans settled in natural caves in the canyons, extending them into a honeycombed town. The caves make up the oldest inhabited dwellings in Italy. Yes Puglia is a photographers dream capturing the local architecture, people and culture.

We have chosen our accommodation for their unique locations in Ostuni, Matera and Monopoli, close to and within easy access to the historic parts of town and to restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. At Ostuni we stay in a 4 Star hotel – Matera we stay in an intimate guest house carved out of the rock – Monopoli we stay in a comfortable B&B guest house. All have private bathroom, breakfast and Wi-fi.

Puglia and Matera, Italy

Day 1
Fly from the UK to Brindisi.
Drive by private transfer to your hotel in Ostuni, Puglia.
Time to relax, have lunch and a welcome briefing before heading out to take some shots of the historic centre and catch the warm light as the sun goes down.
Dinner in one of the many local restaurants.
Day 2 – Day 4
Breakfast each day in our hotel/guest house accommodation.
Photography days with coffee stops and lunch etc. We explore each location by private transfer and on foot in the historic centres of Ostuni, Matera, Alberobello, Monopoli and Polignano at a relaxed pace. We aim to capture the late afternoon light and sunset as well as sunrise in each location. This adventure is designed to give you the most photogenic locations and Steve will be on hand to with one-to-one assistance so you can improve your photography skills and go home with you can be proud of.
Each day we take coffee breaks, lunches and the evenings for dinner at hand picked restaurants, we review and discuss the day’s shoot and capture sunsets and sunrises.
Day 5
We have a full day before our evening flight, but there will be an opportunity to relax before farewells and heading to the airport for our departure home.

Tuition: Tuition is in the form of in-the-field talks, demonstrations, one-to-ones, review sessions and discussions.

You can learn about: Camera functions and handling; Composition; Exposures; Apertures; Shutter speeds; Depth of Field and Using Filters.

Group size is limited to 8: Small groups mean that you get the best out of a location and receive the personal attention to learn at your own pace.

Not included: Flights, drinks, lunches, evening meals, travel insurance, photographic insurance, city tax (€3.00 pppn).

Flights: Flights are not included, you will need to book your own flights, however we can assist with information regarding flights, please contact us with your enquiry. The arrival and departure airports for the tour are from:

London Stansted 06.20 to Brindisi 10.20 (Outbound)

Bari 21.05 to London Stansted 23.05 (Return).

Transfers: Transfers are included from the arrival and departure airport.
