What kind of people come on your holidays?
Our holidays are open to anyone and we have clients from all walks of life, however, we find that most of our parents are generally over 30. People who book group holidays are generally sociable friendly open-minded people.
What can I expect when I come on holiday with Mango?
Our holidays are Group Holidays. Group sizes vary, some groups are as few as 3 or 4 families, others more. Andorra Activity holiday has is one of the largest groups with up to 28 people and our ski holiday in Italy for single parent families has up to 40 people. At the start of the holiday, we have a get together, when everyone meets up. The group Leader or Co-ordinator will tell you about the programme for the week.
The Trip guide will give you all the information you need about what you can expect on each day.
You will soon find you and your children are among friends. Your children will develop a social network with their new found friends and you will be making friends yourself and enjoying adult company. Many people who meet on our holidays keep in touch and meet up after the holiday. The holidays are a great way for single parents to meet and make lasting friendships.
What are the age groups of the children?
Most of our trips have a minimum age of 4 or 5, some older and sometimes we have dedicated Teen departures. Our family holidays are open to any family with a child up to the age of 18. Normally children up to 16 come on our holidays and more usually the age range is from 5 to 14. We find that age does not matter too much, as children seem to get on with each other, whatever their age. Skiing is popular with older children.
I’m very nervous about travelling on my own with my children, how can Mango help me?
Some of our holidays are exclusively for single parent families and so everyone is in the same position. We share some holidays with partner organisations and so on some holidays there may be a mixture of two-parent and one-parent families. Before booking you can enquire about the composition of the group. Although we get lots of repeat bookings, on any one holiday there is usually a predominance of those travelling with us for the first time. So there will be lots of other people in the same position as you. When you arrive you will be met by the leader who will immediately put you at ease. Soon you will feel like everyone has been your friend for a long time and you will be feeling confident. Your children too will soon make friends and you will be able to relax, just knowing they are happy. Note, if you want to ask any questions and talk about any of your concerns, feel free to give Jackie or Steve a call on 01902 373410 or 07779 008990.
What is the role of the Tour Leader?
All our holidays are accompanied throughout by a Group Leader. Their job is to ensure that everything runs smoothly and deal with any problems for you and arrange visits and activities.
Our holidays are based on parental responsibility and it is your role to ensure the safety and good behaviour of your children.
I’ve seen the prices on the website but will it go up after I have booked?
The price quoted is the price you pay. Once you have booked your holiday and paid the deposit we will absorb any increases in price, such as fuel supplements or exchange rate fluctuations. Any optional payments, such as flight supplements for regional airports, if they apply, or room upgrades, will be clearly stated. We also tell you exactly what is included in the price of the holiday. You will notice that the price of our ski holiday to Italy includes both a price in GBP and a local payment. See the next question for an explanation of why we have a local payment and what it is for. The local Euro payment is to cover the cost of the transfer to the resort. If you book “Land Only” and arrange and pay for your own transfer this local payment will not apply.
How safe is my money with Mango?
Your money is perfectly safe. In accordance with EC regulations, your payment to us for holidays including flights are fully protected under our Partner (Intrepid Travel) bonding agreement, through the Civil Aviation Authority, who issue the Air Tour Operator’s Licence ATOL. Their Licence number is 6352. For more details please visit www.atol.org.uk to check out any Tour Operator’s Licence. In addition the UK’s Package Tour Regulations require us to hold any money paid by clients in a Trust Account and your money is only released from this account once your holiday is complete.
Can I fly from my nearest airport?
Most of our holidays are based on a group flight from London, where a flight is included. If you book your own flight, you can choose to arrive in resort for the start of the trip. It is wise to enquire if there is a complementary transfer to the resort from the airport, if you are able to arrive before the arrival of the group flight and/or depart after the departure of the group flight. Sometimes we recommend travelling down the day before and booking an overnight hotel, with parking, if required and travelling with the group flight. Packages are available through secure.holidayextras.co.uk/mango-parking and secure.holidayextras.co.uk/mango-hotels. Alternatively you could consider a regional flight and an overnight at your destination airport. We can advise on which options are available. Before booking a flight you should ensure that there are places on the Tour. We will reserve your places for up to 5 days without payment whilst you secure your flights .
Do the Hotels have Kids Clubs?
Most of the Hotels we use do not have Kid’s Clubs. Because of the way we organise our holidays, we find that most of our clients want to spend quality time with their children and get out and do things together. And because you’ll be making adult friends, while your children are busy socialising with their new-found friends, there really is no need for Kid’s Clubs.
What deposit is required?
Deposits on most of our holidays is £300 per person deposit. See the price panel for full details.
When do I have to pay the final balance?
The balance is required no later than 9 weeks before departure. If you are unable to meet the normal schedule of payments, we are happy to agree alternative arrangements in many cases. Please contact us if you wish to make alternative payment arrangements.
When will I receive my travel documents?
All travel documents will be sent to you about 2-3 weeks prior to departure. These will usually include e-tickets for you to print out or you will just get a reference number for you to check-in on-line and print out your boarding passes, flight numbers, times of flights, check-in times, baggage allowance, etc. and arrangements for meeting up with the Tour Leader on arrival. We will also usually recommend some things you should take with you, the currency used, and so on.
What money will I need?
For all our trips you will be advised which meals are included and you will need money to buy those meals, which are not included as well as personal spending money and money for any optional visits, activities and excursions. We always make it clear in our trip descriptions what is included in the price of the holiday.
