MaltaMalta has lots to offer and lots of fun things to do. There’s the fantastic Water Park and Popeye village, where the Popeye filmset is now open to visitors. There are great boat trips, including being a pirate for the day. Why not try snorkelling, scuba diving, or sailing or one of many more activities on offer. A holiday on Malta is as lively or as tranquil as you choose to make it, with charming towns and villages as well as bustling towns with shops and seafront cafes. It is hot but never too hot as the cooling breezes drift in from the sea.

MaltaAccommodation

We will be staying 7 nights half board at the 4 star Qawra Palace Hotel in Salina Bay. Salina Bay is a quiet secluded area on the outskirts of St Paul’s Bay with a rocky cove. The hotel is situated right on the sea front. The hotel is privately -owned by the Vella family and has 3 seafront pools, an adult pool, a children’s pool and a toddler pool as well as an indoor pool. There’s a pool bar, coffee shop, hairdressing salon, lounge bar and nightly entertainment programme. It also has Tennis court, mini-golf and pool table. Malta’s sandy beaches at Mellieha Bay and Golden Bay are about 12km away and can easily be reached by bus.

The Maltese IslandsThe Maltese Islands have often been called the island of sunshine and history. With a history boasting 6,000 years of civilisation, every inch of its land, its temples and monuments bear witness to past civilisations. For those of you with an appetite for culture, Malta and Gozo are strewn with fascinating historical and archaeological sites, some of which date back earlier than the Pyramids! Visit the Mdina, the old capital and take a step back in time in the Silent City. Visit the new capital, Valletta a World Heritage Centre and great for both shopping and sight-seeing with tiny shops in narrow streets, where you can see craftsmen at work (especially the jewellers making fine filigree silver pieces), churches, Baroque buildings, street cafes and elegant gardens. The fishing village of Marsaxlokk in the south of the island is pretty and has a busy fish market every Sunday.

The old buses are a unique feature of Malta and offer a great network of routes, with cheap fares and frequent services, making it easy to see any part of the island. Gozo, Malta’s sister island, is greener and more tranquil than Malta with sweeping views of terraced fields, glimmering shore-lines, imposing churches and a Neolithic Temple. A regular ferry service links Malta to Gozo.

We include a trip to the island of Gozo and a trip to Valetta by public bus and Ferry in our holiday .
