Slovenia Single Parent family activity holiday

This is an action-packed holiday exclusively for single parent families based in the Bohinj valley

Minimum age 5 years

This is an action-packed holiday exclusively for single parent families. We take great pleasure in returning to this beautiful and friendly country bordered by Austria and Italy. The scenery, like its neighbours, is Alpine but the Slovenian Alps are less well-known and therefore quieter. The base for this holiday is in the Bohinj valley where we find the beautiful lakes of Bohinj and Bled.
This destination is a paradise for those who love the outdoors with endless activities on offer to while away the days. We can walk from our base in the lanes and paths around our tiny hamlet. We can picnic and sunbathe on the meadows by the side of Lake Bohinj whilst the children take a dip in its crystal clear waters. We will hire bikes and cycle to nearby villages. We take a boat across lake Bohinj and take a leisurely walk back along the shore of the lake. We’ll be rafting across the lake before heading down the river with its very gentle rapids.

We’ll travel by local bus to nearby Bled, with its beautiful lake and medieval castle. You can hire a small boat and row to the island or take a boat trip to the island in the centre of the lake, wander around the town, take the little tourist road train around the lake, have a go on the luge, take a gentle walk lake-side or a swim in the lake.

For the more adventurous there are lots of optional additional activities around lake Bohinj such as the Adrenalin Park with a high ropes course. Or you can learn how to kayak. Canoeing, climbing or paragliding are also available for you to try. There is a Water Park at nearby Bohinjski Bistrica (a 30-minute walk from our accommodation). You can learn to fish in the river and lake, where the trout swim in the crystal clear waters. There is something for everyone of all ages.

You can visit the Savica waterfall. “Its water bursts from under the ground of the Dolina Sedmerih Jezer (The Seven Triglav Lakes Valley) through the walls of Komara at Savica Waterfall, which is the most famous Slovenian waterfall. The Savica falls almost 51 meters into a natural basin

Our Accommodation

The accommodation has a lovely restaurant where we have our breakfast and our first evening meal. There is an on-site coffee house and bar. Breath taking scenery

The children and I thoroughly enjoyed Slovenia. For starters the scenery was spectacular. It was a very outdoor holiday with organised activities each day. This idea was great because we had something organised for the children every day. We went mountain biking, walking, and visited the beautiful lakes of Bohinj and Bled which were stunning and Slovenia had such breath taking scenery as a backdrop to the activities we did. We also went white water rafting this was such a great experience for us all. It was great in the afternoons to spend time relaxing by the lake sunbathing and chatting.

Fantastic holiday

Just a quick message to say a big thank you from Theo and myself to you and the Mango team for giving us a fantastic holiday in Slovenia. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The scenery was breath taking and the activities fun and challenging. Was glad I took on paragliding and still think fondly of Robert and canoeing. Not sure the wet suit helped!!

Regards Theo and Anne xx

Great memories

I’m very belatedly sending some feedback on our Slovenia holiday. It feels like a long time ago now but Alex and I both had a great time and have some great memories. Alex loved being with the other children it was great that she found a holiday best friend and it made a real difference to her. We both loved taking part in the activities, a little bit of action and excitement, but nothing too dangerous. I think the best thing about the Slovenia holiday was the setting, it really was beautiful. We loved the scenery, the lake and the resort. It was great that you could walk to the lake, to the shop, to a small number of bars and restaurants, and to the climbing and equipment hire places. We would love to have stayed a bit longer to try out more activities but I think it was important to Alex to have lots of relaxation and playing by the lake with the other children. She loved the floating raft and the trampoline into the lake. I loved swimming in fresh water.

The lake, mountains and thrills

Some feedback – we had a fabulous time. Missing the lake, the mountains, the thrills!! Karen and Archie have been in touch and we’ve already done a walk with them. Thanks for all your hard work. Let’s run off a cliff edge – sounds fun! Anyone for volley ball! Fancy a small Pizza? Anyone got a cork screw? Let’s all have piggie backs! dancing in a canal and what about kids sit on Mount Everest exchanging stories…oh what fun and joy – mustn’t forget crazy golf by the crazy English people.
