- Harvest produce and come together to cook a rustic meal from scratch during a homestay with family in an agricultural community.
- Get active on guided walks through forest and jungle, plus an incredible canopy walk along suspended bridges in Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve.
- Family holidays aren’t always relaxing, but this trip offers plenty of opportunities to take it slow in thermal springs and pools and on beaches.
- End this adventure by hitting Manuel Antonio National Park, where the evergreen forest grows right up to the long, white beaches and irresistible water.

Day 1 San Jose – Welcome to subtropical Costa Rica! The trip begins with a welcome meeting at 5pm at the hotel in San Jose. You can arrive at any time today as there are no activities planned until this group meeting. San Jose sits in the heart of the country in the lush, wide Central Valley, and has a comfortable subtropical climate. With over half the country’s population living within its limits, it’s a bustling city with lively markets, intriguing museums and a dynamic atmosphere. It’s also easy to navigate – laid out in a grid pattern, the avenidas run east to west and the callés run north to south. After the meeting tonight, perhaps get to know the rest of the group and head out for your first taste of the local ‘taco’ food. Accommodation: KC Hotel or similar (1 night)
Day 2 San Jose de Pocosol
Fuel up on breakfast and get some books or classic car games ready for the 3-hour drive to Santa Rosa de Pocosol. The tiny agricultural community of Juanilama (pop. approximately 200) in the Santa Rosa de Pocosol area is predominantly dedicated to milk production and raising cattle. It’s the perfect place to experience life in small-town Costa Rica – you’ll even be staying with a local family! Settle in and get to know your hosts before going on an agricultural tour. During the tour the children will learn how to plant vegetables as well as gather some produce to be used in tonight’s cooking class. You will have some free time to wander around the community before coming together to create a meal with the produce collected earlier. Vamos a comer (Let’s eat)!
Accommodation: Santa Rosa de Pocosol Homestay ( 1 night) Meals Included: Breakfast and Dinner

Ellen July 2018 Costa Rica was an amazing trip, especially for children. We saw loads of wildlife, including all for of Costa Rica’s monkey species. Definitely bring a really waterproof coat as it rains really hard. Overall it is an incredible experience.
Anthony July 2018 A great trip which took in many wonderful highlights of Costa Rica. Jorge was an excellent guide and there was plenty to keep adults and children of all ages entertained.
Isobel March 2018 Amazing holiday! Our guide was very friendly and well-informed. We were a mixed group of families, from different places and walks of life, but we got on brilliantly from the start, brought together through our discovery of the wildlife and inspired by this country’s approach to life.
