Sicilian Adventure..
Sicily..
This holiday provides a great mix of culture and activity for single parent families. The magical island of Sicily offers a fascinating mix of culture and a fascinating history dating back to Roman times. It is also rich in nature and has great food. From the heights of Mt. Etna, one of the worlds most active volcanoes, and the hidden gem of Vendicari Nature Reserve, with over 200 species of birds, the natural wonders of this island are impressive. Sicily has been inhabited and colonised since Roman and Greek times, and there are excellently preserved fuins at Taormina and Siracusa to scramble over, and pretend to be back in ancient Rome. The 50 metre high Alcantara gorge is an impressive sight, and you can paddle or swim in its icy waters.
Adventure Level
An easy trip suitable for anyone who is reasonably fit and active. Other than the steep path up Mount Etna, most of the terrain is relatively gentle, if a bit uneven underfoot. It can be very hot in the summer sun.
